Software Engineer - Java8 | Scala | Clojure | Functional Programming - Bristol
Are you an experienced Software Engineer using Java8 looking to join an innovative client in central Bristol? Are you hoping to work with a great team who are going from strength-to-strength? Are you enthusiastic and keen to learn new technologies? Well if so this is the role for you! This role offers starting salaries of between £30,000 - £50,000 + benefits.
The company develops BigData software solutions for a variety of customers in the public and private sectors across the UK, EU and US. Their solutions ingest millions of pieces of unstructured data (documents, web pages, files etc) every day and then make sense of them, providing insight and analysis for their customers. Due to continued growth within their customer base as well as a broadening of their product portfolio, they are now seeking experienced Software Engineers to join their Bristol based Research &Development Team.
You will ideally have a degree in Computer Science (or similar) and have solid experience using Java. Using other Functional Programming Languages like Scala or Clojure would be ideal but not essential for a successful application. If you don't have Scala or Clojure experience the client would like to see a strong desire to learn. Evidence of hobbyist activities and side projects should be evident on CVs. Experience with BigData technologies such as Apache Storm, Spark or Hadoop or search solutions such as Lucene, SOLR or ElasticSearch would all be a distinct benefit but not essential. Being able to work Frontend using ReactJS would be seen as a bonus.
